Slab Slayin'

Water Temp 70-74

Crappie fishing has been on fire this week. Caught good numbers and size on jigs and minnows in 12 - 18' of water. The bite is very light so a good feel is key. we were fishing brush tops and stake beds on creek channel banks. Bass fishing has been very slow, good numbers of short fish caught beating the bank with a shakey head and ned rig. Topwaters on shallow flats are producing better fish but the bite is spotty all along the lake. Whites can be caught using jigging spoons and rooster tails on main lake ledges and creek mouths. We are looking at cooler weather as the next couple of weeks come up. I expect the bites to get better as the water cools and the fish begin to feed up for the winter. I look for the crappie to move a little shallower and the bass to begin to pick up in the same areas. Check in for next weeks fishing report.
